Polish animator and director Piotr Ficner has extensive experience in both puppet and hand-drawn animation. He earned his master’s degree in Art and Multimedia Education at the University of Opole.
He began his animation career in stop-motion at Studio Se-Ma-For in Łódź, where he animated the series Parauszek i Przyjaciele. Later, he worked in the Czech Republic, the UK, and Italy on several feature films, commercials, and TV series, including Even Mice Go to Heaven (Nawet Myszy Idą do Nieba) and Chuck Steel – Night of the Trampires. He has participated in festivals and directed commercials and trailers for KAZstudio in Poland.
Piotr currently works as a 2D animator at Grupa Smacznego, including on the theatrical 2D animation Basia – Radzę Sobie. His recent works include directing the films Trefliki Ratują Święta and Bobaski i Miś. He is currently preparing a full-length puppet film titled Ro for Animoon Studio, which will soon be shot in Łódź.

The first day of the workshop will begin at Cinelight rental, where participants will learn about the professional equipment used in animation. The specifics of lighting technicians’ work in animated production, differences from live-action films, and the importance of precise light control will be discussed.
Participants will then move on to the practical construction of lighting variants with decoration, testing different lighting scenarios and their impact on the mood and perception of the scene.
The workshop will conclude with an exploration of alternative lighting methods and non-standard light sources that allow for unique visual effects to be achieved.
